Snowy, Winter Maternity Photos | Stony Creek Metropark | Shelby Township, MI
I’m here to debunk the idea that you can’t have gorgeous photos in the winter!
I won’t lie, we got lucky with this session. There was zero snow on the ground the day before, and then wa-la! Michigan delivered one of it’s wonderful, spontaneous surprises with a layer of snow for Melissa’s maternity session. Her light blue dress and floral crown looked breathtaking against the snowy pines at Stony Creek Metropark. And, of course, her pregnancy glow is utterly gorgeous!
Can I add a few winter weather outfit recommendations? Typically, mamas are worried about being FREEZING cold. Here’s a few simple outfit ideas to help with that (maternity or not!).
Wear a long dress with long sleeves
Rock leggings underneath your long dress
Add layers! Go all in with a faux fur wrap, add a scarf and hat, wear tall boots and so forth!

Mind if I share a few frequently asked questions about maternity sessions with you?
When should I book my maternity session?
I’d suggest reaching out around 20-22 weeks along. That will give us time to meet for your consultation, plan your session, and give you time if you are shopping for a gown.
How many weeks should I be for the session?
I recommend we schedule your maternity photoshoot for anywhere between 28 - 33 weeks along. You’ll have a pronounced baby bump and still be (mostly!) comfortable.
Should it just be me at the photoshoot or can my partner join?
It can be just you if you wish, or your partner is more than welcome to join! Often times if it is both of you at the photo session, your partner will be in about 50% of the photos.
